Bella is known for exquisite details and expert craftsmanship, and I was surprised initially by how difficult they are to purchase (you have to visit the atelier in person or be recommended by someone who’s purchased in the past). We unleashed our inner divas at the 2025 Galentine's Day celebration with our girlfriends!

Ariana, a certified makeup artist, worked her magic with specially themed palettes. Rachel, Alegria’s content creator extraordinaire, took headshots to commemorate our glow from the day. Stephanie, belly dance artist, taught a fun belly dance cardio workout. Best day ever with our besties!

Shimmies, cake, fun -- oh my! We got together for an afternoon of learning, connection, and inspiration in February 2025. Stephanie, a certified SharQui instructor, kicked off the afternoon with belly dance cardio. Sausan, creator of Egyptian Dance Code®, taught a mini crash course in Classic Egyptian-style belly dance. We closed out the festivities with a custom-designed cake and spicy performances by Stephanie (choreography by Leilah) and by Troupe Daira (it was the first performance for two new troupe members). In 2013, I was dancing at Thea Mediterranean Restaurant in San Jose, CA. I felt a tap on my shoulder, and someone asked me if I’d like to be in a music video.

Little did I know that Kendrick Lamar would win 2025 Grammys for all five categories he was nominated for, including Record and Song of the Year. It was fun to walk down memory lane and revisit my cameo in the music video!

I'm sending this love note to my troupe on our first anniversary! I'm so proud of these amazing women -- it takes a lot of courage to get up and perform in front of people, especially for this group because most of them had never danced prior January 2024. Here's to another year of shimmies and sparkles on the dance floor together!

I am grateful that my “belly sisters” from back in the day were so supportive of my idea to pay (shimmy) it forward. Thanks to their and other donors’ generosity, I had the financial means to launch the first-ever “Shimmy It Forward” scholarship program in 2024-2025. One anonymous donor was so touched by the application submissions that they offered to sponsor 7 winners (instead of just 1). Congratulations to 2024-2025’s 7 recipients!

Stephanie is proud to present the opportunity for one person to receive one month’s free tuition for belly dancing at Alegria Performing Arts Academy! All applicants will be entered into a random lottery for one ticket to our upcoming "Galentines Day 2025" celebration on 2/9/25 at Alegria!
