What if we combined Jabbawockeez with Stephanie Belly Dance? Our styles seem totally unrelated, but I think there are more similarities than one might assume, and the differences that do exist make it interesting. Let's see what happens!

We've grown so much this past year, and I'm very proud of how everyone has taken on challenges with aplomb (multi-tonal finger cymbals, belly dancing festival performances, improv and more)!

I DID IT!! I received my FINAL Teacher Certification in Stage 3 of the Dance Cohesion program by April Rose! I’m one of only 15 people in the world (at the time of this writing) to have achieved this certification.

They looked amazing in these bright pink dresses -- which, incidentally, they made! Gorgeous.

Did you know that Stephanie's foray into swing dancing came before belly dancing? She got a chance to put her love of Truckin' and Shorty Georges, among other classic moves, at the Golden Valley Health Centers annual gala fundraiser. It felt so good to be dancing while helping a great cause!

Let the IMPROVISATION begin! I danced to live music by The Flairs at Gilded Raqs 2025, in my newest costume by Bella of Istanbul. For the first time, I danced while playing finger cymbals the way musicians play (matching the drum's Doum/Tek/Ka).

Sweet Bodhi and her fabulous mom Erin are both my students. Bodhi performed one of my drum choreos for the talent portion AND WON Junior Little Miss Denair! So proud of her!

Almost no one has done more for the broad popularity of belly dancing than Shakira. She was absolutely amazing to see in concert: she sang, danced and connected with the audience for 2 hours straight. I feel very lucky that I was able to experience her unique stage charisma, and I wanted to share some of it with you in this video montage of clips I filmed at the concert.

Take a walk on the wild side with Stephanie and her zebra costume :) as she improvises to live music by celebrated artist Pangia at Carnival of Stars 2025!

If you're new to the concept, live music and improv dance create a fun and complex interplay between musicians and dancer. The drum solo was 100% improvised by the drummer, which means that neither he nor Stephanie knew what exactly would be coming next. Stephanie can't think of a better way to be present in the moment!

My troupe, Daira, and I officially debuted "Queen of Mean" at Alegria Performing Arts Academy's May 2025 showcase! This is my newest troupe choreography, and I knew it was going to be tricky because of the flowy movements and multiple formation changes. E veryone worked hard and it showed in the fabulous performance -- I'm so proud of them!
